The Mollie Spencer Farm Coffee & Conversation event series features informal talks aimed at engaging with the community on issues related to environmental and wildlife preservation and animal welfare. These events take place at the farm throughout the year and feature local speakers. Previous Coffee & Conversation topics including planting pollinator gardens, supporting monarch migration, and equine fostering.
Coffee & Conversation: Working with Wool
Saturday, March 25th - 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Attendees will learn about how sheep are cared for on the Mollie Spencer Farm and how their wool is cleaned and processed. We will also discuss the partnership between the Mollie Spencer Farm and the Oklahoma Contemporary Studio School and see examples of the artistic work Studio School students have created with the wool from the Farm. We will conclude our time together with a visit to the pasture to see the merino sheep (and other animals!).


Coffee & Conversation: Beekeeping in Your Backyard
Saturday, May 6 - 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
This informal Coffee & Conversation event will focus on beekeeping in an urban setting. Local experts will talk about bee biology, including the different types of honey bees and their roles in the hive. They will then discuss the basics of beekeeping, bee safety, and hive maintenance. We will end with a Q&A session and a guided demonstration of the Mollie Spencer Farm bee hives!
